Yes, it's everyone's favorite United Nations volunteer George Clooney playing a sort-of shady lawyer in this somewhat confusing but ultimately satisfying criminal drama. Along the way, he's supported by a fabulously quirky, Oscar™ nominated performance by Tom Wilkinson, who portrays a broken lawyer in the same firm who's had enough and not gonna take it anymore.
Movie Value: $4.00Clooney plays legal-handyman Michael Clayton, a failed New York bar-owner (huh? did he serve them turpentine martinis or what?) and one-time legal eagle who's fallen on hard times. These times are made considerably harder by Tilda Swinton, who is the primary counsel for the standard Big Company Doing Questionable Things. These things prompt Wilkinson to flip out, Clooney to be called in, and Swinton to make some questionable calls herself as she tries to save her (and her company's) collective butt.
At times slow, the plot takes its time wandering around plot points and subplots toward its (sadly) inevitable conclusion.
